JOHN PAUL II: THE FRIEND OF ALL HUMANITY

J.L. López-Guardia alias Cavin Cooper

A short briefing of his professional active life… He was born on 29 April 1956, in a small city of about 45.000 inhabitants called Vic, (Barcelona), SPAIN.

· He has worked in the publishing and audio-visual industry during more than 30 years. He started his career as a graphic creator publicity agent and as a comics and children books illustrator in important publishing companies like: Editorial Bruguera S.A., Rolf Kauka Prods., Gutenberghus Publishing Service A-S, Disney Comics & Disney Consumer Products, Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Egmont Group, Serieforlaget Svenska, AB., Oberon B.V., Arnoldo Mondadori Editore S.P.A., Ehapa Verlag GmbH, Salvat Editores, S.A., Planeta, S.A., Gladstone/The Bruce Hamilton Company, etc., combining his jobs with water-colour painting. A lot of the nowadays world artists or “Disney Comics’ Creative”, are today finding his inspiration sources in López-Guardia’s jobs.

Finally he decided to continue increasing his knowledge in his professional career, alternating jobs and spending time with other projects, getting involved to design animation television series productions for the producer company BRB, which made history and were very successful all along years.
Feeling overwrought, and tired of executives promises and injustices with the author rights, he cancels all his commercial commitments (editorial and animation ones) in Europe… and as always, he believes in himself and in his two passions: graphics and Animation, and decides to go working nowhere else than to the Mecca of the cinema, Los Angeles, CA (USA). There, he faces a not easy beginning until he gets credibility and he metes his first agent; during the first year he works as anything he can find, studies and trains, getting quickly adapted to the American operative way, and starts prolific associations and collaborations with well known executive producers in the en la Animation Industry.
He founded together with other artists an “Animation Academy”, shortly after he got invited to different social events at the ‘ABC/Disney Channel 7’ and at the ‘Actor’s Guide’ in Hollywood, cooperating gratuitously with multiple educational projects for ONG companies, among we stand out: the “American Oceans Campaign” commanded by Ted Danson, y LSAC (Latino Scholastic Achievement Corporation); in the last one he creates an oil painting portrait of Mrs. Clinton, selected that year as the la ‘LSAC Woman of the Year/96’.
During the last few years he has been working extensively as a creative artist in animation, freelancer, editor, producer, commercial, and executive producer through his companies Cavin Cooper Productions and Cavin Cooper Entertainment. He has created new projects, as well as developing conceptual studies, celebrities[model-sheets, storyboards, layouts, exposure-sheets] for the Top-Majors’ American companies, including Disney, Warner Bros, Saban, Universal Studios, MGM, Nickelodeon, DreamWorks, Sony, Hanna-Barbera, Cartoon Network, Tundra Productions, etc. He has also worked with different support Studies and Animation Branches in Asia, as an ‘overseas supervisor director’, supervising and directing some episodes of Animated TV Series, TV Specials y Direct-To-Videos animation. (Highly specialized in high quality Productions, low cost ones and short-time ones). He made his mind up to coming back to his country at last, and to set up the ideal to accomplish his dreams company with new associates: CAVIN COOPER PRODUCTIONS.

IMPORTANT ANECDOTE

The artist remembers that when he was very little, after having watched the films “Snowhite and the 7 Little Dwarfs” and ‘Bambi’, he decided he wanted to be a -DISNEY artist- when he were grown up. His dream started to become truth on 1977 when he achieved his first contract for DISNEY COMICS, and later on when he managed to work at the old Studios-Walt Disney in Burbank, California, (USA).
